WOW Update - February 28, 2009
The WOW Is Ready for Lift-Off!
We are just one week away from the long awaited and highly anticipated Grand Opening of the World of
Wonders Science Museum!
On Thursday, March 5th, 5:30pm at the WOW join us and the Lodi
Chamber of Commerce for the official WOW Ribbon Cutting.
Grand Opening Events
The World of Wonders Science Museum’s
Grand Opening will be March
7th and 8th, from 10 am to 5pm.
Saturday, March 7th
Wild Things, Inc. – dedicated to the rescue,
rehabilitation, and release of orphaned, injured, and displaced
wildlife. Come and meet wild Animals of the World as representatives of
their species to help us learn about their status in the world.
Two presentations 11:30 AM and 2:00 PM
Clifford, the Big Red Dog – Meet Clifford from
Barnes and Noble and listen to stories about him read
by Lodi Library librarians. 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM
Meet staff and “special visitors” from Micke Grove Zoo
and Oak Grove Nature Center. 10:00 AM to
4:00 PM
Dr. WOW and his colleagues will be assisting future
engineers and scientists with hands-on activities that will wow and
amaze. 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Amtrak Special: Sign ups will be held both
days to win one free Amtrak round trip train ride between Lodi and Los
Angeles for 2 adults and 2 children.

Sunday, March 8th
The Bohart Entomology Museum from U. C. Davis will
introduce you to live unique insect members from their collections.
10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Kid friendly hands-on interactive food demonstrations
with Erin and Gordon Smith, proprietors of Scooters
California Grill 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM.
Sparking imaginative learning, meet and work with the amazing
Mad Scientists from Sacramento performing experiments and
creating exciting souvenirs to take home. 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Meet staff and “special visitors” from Micke Grove Zoo

Successes at the WOW
We are pleased to report that Lodi City
Council granted the WOW a one year extension on its lease of the 2
N. Sacramento Street building until February 2010.
Thank you to our very own Dr. WOW and Dr. WOW Jr., as their
hands-on experiments have assisted in the success of our birthday parties
(Saturdays and Sundays) and field study trips
(Wednesday-Friday).

Other Upcoming Events
Join the World of Wonders Science Museum as they hold their first
annual Barnes & Noble Bookfair. Exhibits from the World of
Wonders Science Museum will be on display for the general public to
view all day on the 14th and 15th of March.
A portion of proceeds from all bookfair related sales at Barnes &
Noble during March 14th and 15th will go to the World of Wonders
Science Museum and help with their continued efforts to promote hands-on science-based exhibits and programs to stimulate
discovery for all ages.

On the Green Golf Tournament
And just around the corner is the WOW’s Second Annual Science on the Green
Golf Tournament at the Woodbridge Golf and Country Club will be held
Monday April 6th. Come enjoy a day of golf, food, prizes and a lot
of fun! Your $150 entry fee includes green fee with cart, lunch and
dinner! It’s never too early to start planning to be a part of
this fun filled event benefitting The WOW.
