A major portion of this grant will help bring local Title 1 fourth and fifth grade classes into the WOW for field study trips and introduce them to the amazing world of science. Also, STARLAB, a mini planetarium that visitors sit in, will be at the WOW!! Spaces for the half-hour STARLAB programs are limited, so call in early to reserve your spot. That night, at 8:30pm, we will be going to the top of the parking structure to view the stars with Stockton Astronomical Society’s telescopes. Spaces for this are also limited so be sure to call in and reserve your spot. WOW Science Summer CampThe WOW Science Museum is offering the very first Science Summer Camp at the museum during two separate weeks! Week one, from June 21st through June 25th will be a “Detectives’ Science Camp”. It will run from 9:00am to 1:00pm each day, and serve children ages 7 through 9 years old. During the week, campers will explore the museum and its many exhibits, and also perform many experiments in different areas of science to solve a mystery!! The second week, from June 28th through July 2nd, will be for campers who are 10 through 12 years old. This camp is called “Worlds Within Our World” and runs from 9:00am to 1:00pm each day. Campers will learn about nature's ecosystems and the plants and animals that live in them. Additional activities will involve microscopes, fossil, rocks and minerals. A highlight of the week will be a trip to the Lodi Lake Nature Area. Since this is our first year, Science Summer Camp is only being offered to World of Wonders Science Museum members. Cost for the camps is $150 per child each week. Space is very limited, so please call 209-368-0969 to reserve a week of Science Summer Camp.
